You can’t go wrong with spending the weekend in Carmel-by-the Sea and marrying at a drop-dead gorgeous venue! Kelly & Brian fell in love with the Ranch immediately, not only for the area, views and beautiful barns, but also for the SHEEP! Mission Ranch has a fantastic history as one of California’s first dairies (built around 1850). Actor Clint Eastwood saved the property from ruin and a condo project and renovated many original buildings (farmhouse, bunkhouse and two barns. Flowing Merlot colored bridesmaids dresses with “rustic” flowers of similar shades and pops of limey green was perfect for the setting. The ceremony was held on the Meadow Lawn with the background being Point Lobos and Clint’s grazing mascot sheep. One curious little fella nibbled on the fence flower buckets. We set up a vintage garden table for their wine ceremony. Afterwards guests enjoyed appetizers in the small barn and the delicious dinner was held in the larger original barn. Keeping with the theme each guest received a delicious sheep cutout butter cookie favor. Working with rich textures in contrast to the crisp white-washed walls of the barns, we dressed the tables in a “barn wood” colored pintuck linen and then worked with candles and green vines and white orchids hanging from wrought iron stands. Kelly told me she felt like she was in a magazine spread! Cute. The festivities continued in the “party barn” with toasts, cake cutting and some very crazy happy friends dancing with enthusiasm.
