At this point in time, California does not recognize same-sex marriages, but that didn’t stop Wendy & Carrie from declaring their love, commitment and devotion to each other in a fantastic wedding ceremony that was “traditional with twists.” Held at the Citizen Hotel in downtown Sacramento (I was happy to recommend as this hotel is part of the open-minded Joie de Vive Hotels ownership). The color palette of black, ivory and red was carried forth perfectly with hues of red in the brides’ bouquets and fun, plucky red Gerbera daisies for the attendants’ bouquets. Centerpieces (3 designs) were created of varying heights of candles in trays of petals and flower heads and table names were fav vacation locations with a photo of the couple. The ceremonial backdrop was designed with hanging chain links, ribbons and votives – allowing for unobstructed views off the 7th Floor Metropolitan Terrace. Several special moments occurred – Wendy being escorted part way by her two little daughters-Carrie read promises to Wendy that were frankly, hysterical and loving, and then Wendy sang a love song to Carrie. Lots of toasts and well wishes were given throughout the family style dinner service, and then when the celebratory dancing finally began, whoa – there was celebrating a-happen’. The girls opted for a scrumptious small bite dessert station – a visual masterpiece! As the guests left the party, each received a Pocket Shot favor (that was a big hit).
