Stacey & Joe – the Reception (Part 2)
Stacey and Joe held their gorgeous wedding reception at The Firehouse Restaurant in Old Sacramento, California. Are they just the cutest couple ever? And may I say, working with Stacey was a delight. One of the gosh darn nicest brides ever! And Joe was a love.
So many great details, and one that I particularly loved was the concept we developed for the wedding cake. Stacey wasn’t thrilled with having the single big showcased wedding cake… and she likes cake, so I suggested having SEVERAL wedding cakes – different flavors, different styles and displayed on different cake pedestals.
The only two layer cake, which we designed to be the center of the five on display, was intended for Stacey and Joe to cut and feed each other.
I personally cut a wedge out of each displayed cake so the guests could see the yumminess inside. Then (from sheet cakes in the back) the staff cut and laid out all the different flavors and let everybody “go for it”! What fun!
Yup, that’s me in action! And I never licked my fingers once (until I was out of sight of the guests!)
The very lovely floral work was done by Philip B. Rice of East Sac Florist. The fabulous baker was Freeport Bakery, and the delicious flavors were:
Double Fudge with Fudge filing
Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese filing
Lemon Poppyseed with Lemon Mousse
Buttermilk with Strawberry Mousse and Whipped Cream Frosting
Buttermilk with Hazelnut Butter Cream Filing and Chocolate Ganache Frosting
