Tabletop Photo Shoot for Our Wedding

When I started working with Jennifer Dunham-Starr with The Memory Journalist on the Tabletop Photoshoot for Our Wedding magazine (Fall/Winter 2010), I knew immediately what my design theme would be… something I am drawn to and connect with – “Farmhouse Chic”.  Call it whatever you want, but my story-line vision is the bride wanting to marry at her grandparent’s old farm house, with the reception being held in the very cool old barn.  Grandma would open up her linen closet and china cupboard and pull together all the elements to make for a beautiful table.  All with love and sentimentality.  The barn that we used for this photo shoot was the perfect locale… Wilson Vineyards in Clarksburg, CA.

For vintage charm, I used a milk glass pitcher, blue Mason jars, Quaker Lace tablecloth, and antique dessert plates.  Thanks to  Classic Party Rentals for providing the gorgeous blue china, glass chargers and the napkins.

And don’t you think that Grandma would be happy being busy making home-made preserves  for take-home gifts, as well creating gorgeous wedding pies?  Many thanks to Jen’s Petite Pies for creating  three full sized pies (we enjoyed eating them after the photo shoot!!)

I love all the old fashioned and charming details such as the rustic jute wrapped handle on the bridal bouquet, the meaningful expressive tags hanging from the jelly jars, the salt cellars with tiny spoons, a simple chalkboard sign listing the yummy pie flavors, and an embroidered wedding sampler (yes, hand-stitched by yours truly!!)

Thank you to Katie Edwards of Ambience Floral Design for the beautiful, yet relaxed floral concept.  I also thank you so much for volunteering to paint your four chairs to blend so perfectly with the china and color hues!  What a champ.  Thank you to Classy Calligraphy for the jelly tags and to Calligraphy Girl for the chalkboard sign.

Our Wedding Tabletop Photo Shoot

A photo shoot is a lot of fun… no pressure, just imagination, collaboration and good times, as is evident  in the recent issue of  Sacramento Magazine’s Our Wedding.  I asked my friend, the very talented Katie Edwards of Ambience Floral Design to join forces with me as we designed the Farmhouse Chic tablescape.  The location chosen for the shoot was pure perfection – Wilson Vineyards in Clarksburg, California.  Stay tuned for many more photos taken by The Memory Journalists – I know they’ll be awesome!

Vines in the Vineyards

A winery or vineyard wedding is beautiful and romantic. Your imagination runs wild with the thought and vision of long, lush rows of vines and grapes. You can conjure in your mind the perfect photo of you and your new husband posing for the photographer while frolicing in the magnificant, green vineyards. But, you may not know exactly how thick those vines will be in the month you choose to marry.
I thought it would be fun to show some happy couples, posing in the vineyards, during specific months…

Below is the very fun and lovely Carissa (and cute Mike!) ofSugar and Spice and… (Specialty Desserts), whose wedding took place the last weekend in February at David Girard Vineyards. As you can see, the foilage is just breaking out on the vines (but look at the lovely sky on a winter day!)

This photo is of Katie and John was taken at Wilson Vineyards, in the month of April. The vines are getting a great start and beginning to thicken.

Sarah & Kyle are happily smiling in the rows of vines at The Harvest Inn in Napa Valley in the month of May. The vineyards are really beautiful.

And now we’re back at David Girard Vineyards with Jessica and Steven during the month of June. The rows are thick and very full. Quite a bit of difference in just four months!!

To my vineyard couples – Enjoy the continued growth of your love!

Katie and John's Spring Fling

Apr 27, 2009   //   by Lora   //   Disney Theme, Jordans Photographic Designs, Spring, Sugar and Spice, Wilson Vineyards  //  No Comments

I just received a few photos from Jordan’s Photographic Designs… and am excited to show off this very fun, whimsical, and innovative wedding that I coordinated earlier this month – held at Wilson Vineyards. The weekend before Easter was perfect to showcase this lighthearted, playful theme incorporating Katie & John’s Disney World honeymoon destination, along with Easter, and joyous spring. The blue and yellow color palette was a lovely contrast against the lush green lawns, new growth of the vineyard, and rough hewn wood of the vintage barn. Sarah of Cuttings created beautiful daisy, rose and delphinium floral spheres used in the aisle and inside the barn.Check out the display of the place cards… is that not absolutely darling? I am so proud of that design!! And, yes, those are colored eggs nestled in wheatgrass (eggs were tucked here and there through the venue). Carissa with Sugar and Spice created a jaw dropping dessert table, with the focal piece being the so sweet wedding cake edged in yellow gingham.A present from Katie’s sister were the unique interlocking heart toasting goblets. Disney characters identified each table, with Donald & Daisy representing the newlyweds. What a lovely wedding day…thank you Katie & John!
