Wedding Readings – Selection # 9

Wedding Readings

I’m always on the lookout for a great reading to incorporate into the wedding ceremony.  Here is another one for consideration…

“YOU WERE BORN TOGETHER” (from The Prophet) – Kahlil Gibran

You were born together, and together you shall be forevermore.

You shall be together when the white wings of death scatter your days.

Aye, you shall be together even in the silent memory of God.

But let there be spaces in your togetherness,

And let the winds of the heavens dance between you.

Love one another, but make not a bond of love,

Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.

Fill each other’s cup but drink not from one cup.

Give one another of your bread but eat not from the same loaf.

Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each of you be alone,

Even as the strings of the lute are alone though they quiver with the same music.

Give your hearts, but not into each other’s keeping.

For only the hands of Life can contain your hearts.

And stand together, yet not too near together,

For the pillars of the temple stand apart,

And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other’s shadow.

Ashley & Sean’s 1st Anniversary

I can’t believe it’s been one year since Ashley & Sean said their “I dos” at Granite Bay Golf Club!  August 22, 2009 was a wonderful day with a  fabulous theme of “Hot August Nights”  –  no detail was left unturned.  The vibrant and “hot” colors of red, oranges, fuchsia and yellows were played well.  Katie with Ambience Floral Design created the fun, bright flowers and the ribbon spheres, and also installed the stunning red backdrop for the ceremonial alter.  We  repeated the backdrop behind the fabulous dessert table featuring yummy confections by Carissa of Sugar and Spice Specialty Desserts.

Sean is a firefighter (more “hot”), and so I had him cut the wedding cake with his fireman’s axe (quite a surprise for Ashley), plus he arranged for a vintage fire truck to whisk them away at the end of their reception. Mother Nature even provided a brilliant sunset for the evening.  Thanks to Jordan of Jordan’s Photographic Designs for capturing all the fun and beautiful moments!

It was a great wedding!  I hope the First Anniversary is celebrated in Hot August Nights style.  Happy Anniversary Ashley & Sean!

Meet Margie & Dave

Jun 26, 2010   //   by Lora   //   Jordans Photographic Designs, Sacramento Wedding and Event Planner, Weddings  //  No Comments

Meet Margie & Dave… the latest couple to come to A Day to Remember Wedding & Event Planners for assistance in coordinating their wedding and reception.  They met on line (through the service “Plenty of Fish”) and fell in love!  Their wedding date is one year from that first meeting –  August 28th (for those counting, that’s a little more than 2 months from now).  Piece of cake!  We have a lot to do in a short time frame… but nothing I can’t handle (natch!).  Margie and Dave are a relaxed couple, with simple requests – he wants a party with fun music, she wants delicious food in a sophisticated yet fun environment.

New Clients

The wedding will be held at their lovely home in Placer County.  French Manor architecture, infinity edged pool, and beautiful views –  a fabulous setting for this great day!

Invitations are ordered, DJ and photographer selected… the “to-do” list is getting a bit shorter.  Come back in early September to see their beautiful wedding photos (by Jordan’s Photographic Designs).

Kristina & Corey's e-session

I am a nature person… and Mark Lydell of Lydell Photography sure captured the true essence of nature in this wonderful e-session of Kristina & Corey.

Check out the slideshow with more pictures from this e-session by clicking the link here. Just beautiful!
I have met Mark and seen some of his exceptional work, but we’ve never worked together… so it will be my treat to partner with him in June 2010, when my sweet couple, Kristina & Corey, marry at David Girard Vineyards. Another fantastic event to look forward to!

Cigar Bars – quite the rage

Oct 20, 2009   //   by Lora   //   Cigar Bar, Receptions, Sacramento Wedding and Event Planner  //  1 Comment

It has been quite a trend lately, to set up a Cigar Bar during the reception. Three of my spring-summer couples incorporated them into the festivities. It is best if your reception is in the “great outdoors” and a corner of the venue can be dedicated to this enjoyable addition to a wonderful evening. I referred to this area as the Cigar Grotto and made a chalkboard sign to direct the guests.
Often times my clients will supply wonderfully aged Scotch or delicious Ports to accompany the assortment of cigars and cigarillos. Be sure to include ash trays, cigar cutters (several of them), lighters, and a few comfortable chairs or lounge furniture. Let the smokin’ fun begin!

However, be warned… this is such a treat and a big draw, that often times the DJ has to work really hard to keep the guests on the dance floor! And, if you believe the Cigar Bar is frequented by just the men… think again! Many of the women enjoy savoring a Cuban Honey!!
