Ashley & Sean's Hot August Night Wedding

These are just a few snapshot photos from my little digital camera of Ashley & Sean’s “Hot August Night” wedding held atGranite Bay Golf Club. The theme did not include poodle skirts or hot rod cars, but rather the colors and temperature of a Sacramento region evening in August – HOT!

The cake and dessert station created by Sugar and Spice and… was a visual (and delicious) delight. I can’t wait to show you the professional photos of this display!

Ambience Floral Design used every “hot” color under the rainbow to create the outstanding, vibrant color scheme. Once I receive the professional pictures from Jordan’s Photographic Designs, you’ll be wowed by the beauty, excitement and creativity of this bride and the team effort to make it all tie together!

Ashley & Sean are off to Hawaii for their honeymoon. Thanks, you two. It was a blast!

Tomorrow is Ashley & Sean's Wedding

Aug 21, 2009   //   by Lora   //   Granite Bay Golf Club, Sacramento Event Planner, Vegetables, Wedding Feast  //  No Comments
Tomorrow is Ashley & Sean’s wedding at Granite Bay Golf Club. They are quite the “farmers” and enjoy gardening their vegetables. We asked Chef at the Club if Ashley & Sean could contribute some of their home grown produce to their wedding feast, and he happily complied. Because they are leaving Monday for a Hawaiian honeymoon, they harvested their garden this morning and took in five(!) bags of zucchini, yellow crooked neck, peppers, eggplant, tomatoes and herbs. How very special to serve their very own produce to their guests – farm to table!

Cabinet Decorating Project

A few weeks ago the lovely Heidi, fabulous Catering Manager at Granite Bay Golf Club, asked if I would like to give a fresh look to the club’s entry foyer cabinet. “Sure.” I said. “Sounds like fun.” Unfortunately, I could not have all four shelves to the cabinet as the members of the golf club want their trophies displayed (what’s up with that notion?). I invited my pal, Sarah Acrich of Cuttings Floral Design, to assist me. We brain-stormed one night (over a few glasses of wine!) and came up with the theme of “Four Fabulous Seasons of Weddings at Granite Bay Golf Club.” Sarah created beautiful wreaths to display in each of the window panels for the seasonal vignettes. She’s very good! Below is the entire cabinet.

Winter is in the icey-silver tones with blue/green and silvery peacock feathers. The wreath has bare branches with a touch of glitter sparkle and snowflakes. Champagne flutes and a bucket for the bottle of of bubbly were added. The two photos in frames were taken by The Memory Journalists. Look closely at the left picture and you’ll see the bride wore white “wedding uggs.” Perfect!

Spring has the color palette of purple and green. Sweet jonquils, a bird’s nest, fern, message rocks and pebbles complete this scene. The photo displayed, shot on the beautiful grounds of Granite Bay, was taken by Jordan’s Photographic Designs.

Summer was a fun vignette to create. Sarah’s sunflower wreath included a beautiful trio of butterlies. My mouth watered as I rimmed the glass with lemon sugar for the perfect Lemon Drop beverage (a drink Granite Bay expertly prepares!) and, no those are not real lemons and strawberries… amazing how realistic fake fruit can look! The photo displayed was taken inside the Conservatory by Jeff of Sharpe Photographers, and just so happens to be the wedding of Darcie & Glenn (Darcie owns Slip of Elegance Chaircovers ). It was a lovely wedding!

Autumn (my most favorite time of year) is richly showcased using the colors of burgundy and gold. The square shaped wreath contains pomegranates, seedpods, wheat and a beautiful wide brocade ribbon. A gold charger, gold rimmed wine glass, acorn favor and a message written on a plate, in chocolate “Will you marry me?” finish off this seasonal display. The picture of the lovely couple looking toward the clubhouse was taken by Megan of Christopher Kight Photographers.

So, if you ever find yourself out at Granite Bay Golf Club, check out the entry foyer cabinet. It’s a work of art! And, for those brides looking for a wonderful wedding and reception venue, absolutely consider this property. And tell Heidi, that I sent you!!

Ashley & Sean E-Session

Jun 15, 2009   //   by Lora   //   E-Session, Granite Bay Golf Club, Hot August Nights, Jordans Photographic Designs  //  No Comments

Introducing Ashley and Sean who will marry at Granite Bay Golf Club in August. Jordan Zink of Jordan’s Photographic Designssent me this one picture which captures their serene, relaxed and happy togetherness. I have so enjoyed working with Ashley over the months… and Sean is a fun “hands-on” groom. They are always on the same page when it comes to vision, style and mood to their wedding and reception. The theme will be “Hot August Nights” – not poodleskirts and hot rod cars, but instead imagine the fun and sizzle of a warm summer night in the month of August. Hot pinks, oranges, reds and yellow will be used, with elements of gold. Paper lanterns, beautiful linens, and vibrant flowers. Ashley and Sean love to garden and cook, and so they will be harvesting zucchini and yellow squash from their very own garden for the Chef to prepare and serve at the dinner. How great is that? Sean is a firefighter (a hot job!) and shhhhh…there will be a few surprises for the guests! After the wedding, I’ll be sure to post some of their wedding pictures… can’t wait! Thanks Ashley and Sean for being a wonderful couple and inviting me to be a part of your wedding planning!

Meet and Greet at Granite Bay Golf Club

Apr 15, 2009   //   by Lora   //   Granite Bay Golf Club, Open House  //  No Comments

This blog is getting kicked off with a post for all brides to attend the Granite Bay Golf Club Open House to be held on Thursday, April 16th from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Heidi at Granite Bay Golf Club does a terrific job of this event. She gathers interesting professionals to chit chat with and it’s a wonderful opportunity to view the lovely gardens and Conservatory “all dressed up.” If you don’t have a venue for your wedding, consider Granite Bay Golf Club, but if you already have a location, come on over anyway so you can meet some very cool vendors and get ideas for your wedding! I’ll be there.
